The Alabama Music Awards are proud to announce their 2018 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Growing up in Guin, AL, his lifelong love affair with music is accredited to his Mother, Judith (an accomplished music teacher). His musical influence has paved a stamp on Alabama music and the Arts for over 4 decades. During that time, his influence and leadership have represented Alabama well nationwide and internationally.

His leadership was recognized in 1978 by being the recipient of the George C. Wallace Leadership Scholarship at Troy State University. In 1984, he expanded his craft garnering a role in the movie “The Bear” starring Gary Bussey about the llife of Coach Bear Bryant and in 1985 landing a role as a Terrorist in “Invasion USA” starring Chuck Norris.

In 1993, his musical career became well known when the super group Alabama chose “This Loves On Me” written by himself and PJ Kimberlin to be added to the platinum album “Cheap Seats”. That same year, he was chosen Male Vocalist of the Year by the Florida Music Association.

In 2005, his first album “Whiskey Colored Moon” was released featuring a duet with T. Graham Brown and “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” written by himself and Eric Todd. This and all of his other accomplishments lead to him being honored by Governor Bob Riley to be the “Alabama Ambassador of Arts and Music” in 2006.
In 2007, his patriotism led him to coordinate with Jeff Cook and Charlie Daniels to release “Tribute To A Soldier” cowritten with Shirley Smith. His patriotism caught the eye of our nation’s leader and the White House in 2008 honoring hI’m to perform for President and First Lady Bush along with Bo Bice, John Rich, Sam Moore and John Stone. Also in 2008, he released his 2nd album “Fast Cars, Guitars and Fine Tuned Women.” The title track was co-written with Buck Moore and Troy Seals which was included on Confederate Railroad’s CD “Lucky to be Alive”.

In 2015, he was honored as a Nominee for the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. His career included touring with Lonerider, Cooter Brown, Jeff Cook and AGB, and The Muscle Shoals Sound Revue. Studio work includes Fame- Muscle Shoals, American Sound- Nashville, Burns Sound-Nashville, Cook Sound-Fort Payne, King Snake-Sandford, Florida, and Reel Time- Daytona Beach.
Suffice to say, for someone from Guin, Alabama with his list of accolades and musical accomplishments prove that greatness comes from the roots of Alabama. And it is not just where you start, but it’s how you finish. Thus, it is our honor to recognize Dr. Ken Randolph as the recipient of the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award.
