The Alabama Music Awards Show

In 2012, the Alabama Music Awards Organization was founded with the sole purpose to give recognition to the vast array of entertainers, musicians, and journalists on a local, regional, and national level.

This organization’s other purpose is to provide support and nourishment to those in the musical community in the entire state of Alabama. Music industry professionals and musicians who reside or are natives of Alabama determine recipients of these awards. The Alabama Music Awards show is the first award show that puts the spotlight on and caters to an eclectic genre of music and its many influences in the state of Alabama.

Alabama has a deep and rich musical heritage that has given the world impeccable vocalists, instrumentalists, and composers whom were and still are very influential in the music industry. Alabama’s musical legacy is rooted in traditional folk and spiritual music which was introduced to this nation by way of enslaved Africans through European immigration.

Some of the celebrity performers that have graced the stage with their astounding talents were Channon Knight (gospel artist), Big Ro Williams (blues), Kut Klose (R&B group), Sweet Tea Trio (country singing group), Jackson Capps (country artist), John Stone (country artist), The Velcro Pygmies (rock group), Lamenga Kafi Ford, and Heather Hatton (celebrity comedian).

In the previous years, we have been blessed with presenters such as Aj Lindsey (A&R Def Jam/ Hustle Streetz Records), Bigg Jigg (Universal artist), Tony Brown (BME Presents/Universal Music Group), JD Daigotti (Badazz Ent/Daigotti Boyz Ent.),Robyn Charles (daughter of Ray Charles), Aubrey Francis (Xotic Brain), Ron Stewart (A&R of Atlantic Records), Eric Enew Newman (A&R of Capitol Records/Music Publishing), and Aaron “KC” Jones (Vice President of A&R for Cover Art Entertainment). Blues legends such As Dinah Washington, W.C. Handy, country music pioneer, Hank Williams Sr., and the father of Rock and Roll himself, Sam Phillips have all graced us with their presence! These are just a few of Alabama’s musical legends who have given the world some of the most creative and influential music!

Some of our phenomenal honorees were; country artist John Stone, Bluegrass artist Chuck Carpenter, Multi Platinum Group Kut Klose, Toia Jones from Season 7 The Voice, The Velcro Pygmies, Lady K Season 20 American Idol and Muscle Shoals Horns.

Some of the celebrities that have attended the Alabama Music Awards show just to take in the various talented acts are Mike O’Rear President of Muscle Shoals Recordings, AnR Eric Enew Newman of Capitol Records, AnR Ron Stewart of Atlantic Records, D’An Horld (celebrity designer), Michelle Erving (celebrity designer), Black (DTP), CeCe Vance (celebrity publicist), Brick Squad and Traicia Jones (Model).

Our Lifetime Achievement Award winners have been: Henry “Gips” Gipson in 2017, Dr Ken Randolph in 2018, Shelley Stewart in 2019, Jeff Cook of group Alabama 2020, LeNard Brown of the Controllers, Country Boy Eddy and Roscoe Robinson 2022 !

There is such a great history rooted in our state of Alabama! We are elated to continue the integrity of this history by providing a positive platform that will enhance networking opportunities and assist new and emerging artists as well as seasoned artists!

All proceeds from this event will be used to support events that will display and present local musicians throughout the year. It will not only be educational, but it will give our youth the inspiration, encouragement and the resources they need to embark on their own musical journey.
